We are a Johns Hopkins University team dedicated to improving the safety of biopsies.
Established in 2019.In mid-2019, through conversations with clinicians from the Johns Hopkins Hospital, PneuTech learned about the need to improve the safety of lung biopsies, and we have been growing ever since.

Our Goal.PneuTech is dedicated to innovating medical devices in order to improve patient care. We use our foundations in engineering principles, clinical expertise, and passion for advancing healthcare to develop novel patient-focused technologies.

Deborah Weidman
Co-Founder & CEO Deborah has a B.S. in BME ('21) with a concentration in Imaging and Medical Devices, and is the co-founder and former CTO of CraniUS, an early-stage medical device start-up that recently closed a $19.4M Series A to develop a novel implant to treat patients with brain cancer. Bringing her experience with start-up R&D, funding, and team-building, she is excited to help launch PneuTech. |
Ashley Tsang
Co-Founder & Prior Team Lead Ashley has a B.S. in BME and Computer Science ('22) with a concentration in Data Science. Our Team Lead from May 2021 to July 2023, she started her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan this summer, and continues to advise PneuTech. |
Nina Tedeschi
R&D Engineer Nina is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in BME ('24) with a concentration in Imaging and Medical Devices at Johns Hopkins. She is building prototypes, developing manufacturing processes, and designing bench tests. |
Conor Allan
R&D Engineer Conor is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering ('24) at Johns Hopkins. He is developing our device design, leading material selection, and writing bench test protocols. |
