About Us.
We are a team of six engineers from Johns Hopkins University dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients.
Established in 2019.In mid-2019, through conversations with clinicians from the Johns Hopkins Hospital, PneuTech learned about lung biopsies and its complications, and the need for an innovative solution in order to support the rise of personalized medicine.

Our Goal.PneuTech is dedicated to innovating medical devices in order to improve patient care. We use our foundations in engineering principles, various clinical research experiences, and passion for helping our communities to develop novel and impactful solutions.

Deborah Weidman
Co-Founder & Cheif Executive Officer Deborah has a B.S. in BME ('21) with a concentration in Imaging and Medical Devices, and is the co-founder and former CTO of CraniUS, an early-stage medical device start-up that recently closed a $19.4M Series A to develop a novel implant to treat patients with brain cancer. Bringing her experience with start-up R&D, funding, and team-building, she is excited to help launch PneuTech. |
Ashley Tsang
Co-Founder & Business Ashley has a B.S. in BME and Computer Science ('22) with a concentration in Data Science. Our Team Lead from May 2021 to July 2023, she started her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan this summer, and continues to support business development and regulatory efforts at PneuTech. |
Nina Tedeschi
R&D Lead Nina is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in BME ('24) with a concentration in Imaging and Medical Devices. She leads PneuTech’s engineering development, leveraging her mechanical engineering design and manufacturing experiences to develop our device and test fixtures. |
Tatiana Pereira
R&D Tatiana has a B.S. in BME ('21) and MSE in BME ('22) with a focus in Imaging and Medical Devices. Leveraging her computer aided design and biomedical engineering design experiences, she develops prototypes and conducts bench testing. |
Gohta Aihara
R&D Gohta has a B.S. in BME ('23). He uses his biomedical engineering design experiences to design prototypes and conduct bench testing. |
Conor Allan
R&D Conor is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering ('24). The newest member of PneuTech, Conor has joined to finalize our design, material selection, and manufacturing process. |

Biomedical Advisor Bibhav has a B.S. in BME ('20) and is currently pursuing his medical degree ('26) at Thomas Jefferson University. Prior to attending medical school, he worked full-time at an interventional radiology clinic. Bringing his engineering, research, and clinical experiences, Bibhav is excited to advise in all stages of the R&D process at PneuTech. |
Ian McLane Ph.D.
Business Advisor Ian McLane is the co-founder and CTO of Sonavi Labs, a company that designs and manufactures affordable respiratory assessment devices featuring proprietary AI to analyze body sounds for the management of chronic diseases and detection of acute events. |
Katherine Kovrizhkin
Biomedical Advisor Katherine has a B.S. in BME and Business ('23). She is currently pursuing medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. |
